710 Wilshire: the skin in the game
This could have been an easy morning in sunny Santa Monica, California, but for Howard Laks Architects it became the start of a race against time. The long awaited historic restoration and build of the new luxury Santa Monica Proper Hotel at 710 Wilshire Boulevard was getting underway, but for the team at Howard Laks, the full vision was not yet to their satisfaction; the exterior skin was not yet right.
This particular situation called for an innovative solution, and the answer was CorbisStudio. CorbisStudio assembled a remote team of experienced architects and engineers who provided technical support for the 8-week timeframe set for completion. Pairing CorbisStudio’s expertise with that of the team at HLA enabled the team to deliver the project flawlessly. “Working with HLA was a rewarding experience. Attention to detail is always key as is a collaboration between both teams. The team at Howard Laks were very open with communication and planning. They incorporated our project filing standards as a way to make the job easier for everyone, and the outcome was a success”, says Magdalena Lancman, who led CorbisStudio’s project team.
In Howard Laks own words, “The level of expertise, knowledge, and integrity are exemplary. Gerson, Anton, and the project team could not have accomplished our goal without your leadership and professionalism." This was a normal afternoon in sunny Santa Monica: a great design combined with precise execution left time for another drink as we admired the California sunset. We are ready for the next challenge!
