Creating great hospitality architecture requires special insights into not only how to provide guests with incredible experiences, but also how facility design can be optimized for more efficient operations and maximal return on investment. In order to achieve this, hospitality architecture firms are leveraging 3D BIM modeling services to more intelligently plan project design and construction phases.
Corbis has been empowering such firms with industry-leading BIM technology and guidance since 2002. Our team has helped bring many hospitality design projects come to life over the years. From expansive properties in American tourism capitals to international luxury resorts, our portfolio spans the globe. We give an overview of 5 of our most noteworthy projects below.
1. Santa Monica Proper Hotel
The Santa Monica Proper Hotel builds upon the existing historic architecture at 710 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, CA. This visionary adaptive reuse project is being tackled by Howard Laks Architects, who recruited Corbis for support drafting the construction documents. Our team produced AutoCAD plans and approximately 196 sheets of 2D architecture plans, including extensive updating of existing construction documentation to reflect considerable design revisions.
Such assistance has allowed the firm to imagine a fresh and lively new form for the landmark building. Over 165,000 square feet of new architecture has been added, introducing abundant luxury lifestyle features such as comfortable guest rooms, gourmet dining spaces, high-end retail suites, and outdoor recreation areas.
2. Kempinski Hotel & Apartments
Set on the glistening waterside of Muscat, Oman, the Kempinski Hotel & Apartments project brought an appealing new hospitality venue to one of the middle East’s most desirable destinations. Envisioned as a 68,600 square meter mixed-use community, the property comprises 300 guest rooms and suites, 68 serviced apartments, a luxury spa, and many dining outlets.
Corbis’ work on the project’s detail design and construction drawings enabled the Kempinski team to create a sleek, modern structure infused with traditional Omani motifs. We delivered AutoCAD-based interior drawings and REVIT-based architectural drawings, with our on-site project coordinators facilitating easy collaboration with the client’s team at their Dubai headquarters.
3. Bellagio Convention Center
One of the most iconic landmarks on the Vegas Strip, the Bellagio Convention Center represents hospitality design at its most grand. Corbis lent a hand during the hotel’s 2004 expansion, using 3D BIM services to create interior design construction drawings for the new promenade, ballrooms, and meeting rooms.
As one of our first American hospitality construction projects, the Bellagio set a high bar for performance. We partnered with Marnell Corrao Associates to deliver opulent yet cost effective results, creating the experience guests have come to expect of the Bellagio brand. Now, these spaces regularly host some of the city’s largest and most anticipated events.
4. Resorts World Las Vegas
The Resorts World Las Vegas will be a vibrant addition to the infamous Strip. Our project team crafted architectural 3D BIM models for the hospitality project’s sprawling 11,595,021 square feet of development.
The stylish venue was designed by Steelman Partners, who contracted us to work on multiple portions of the project over a period of 18 months, including the theater, podium, central plant, and tower. Our BIM management and implementation services reduced clashes and ensured that this mammoth project could proceed at a quick pace. Thanks to a streamlined pre-construction phase, the new venue will be opening its doors as soon as summer next year (2021).
5. Mystic Lake
The Mystic Lake Hotel and Casino was an intensive project that covered over 218,000 square feet of hospitality space. This consisted of multiple restaurants, bars, gambling zones, and other entertainment areas.
The Corbis team provided fully integrated project delivery. Work started with remote construction document modification, then collaborating with the project’s architect and coordinator in our office for 6 months.
Our suite of BIM technology services included Revit 2018 3D modeling support, as well as appointment of an on-site coordinator who managed client updates, reviews, and approvals. Efficient liaising between the on and off-site project teams resulted in the construction of what is now one of Minnesota’s most renowned and lucrative hospitality properties.
