Using the district’s green building principles as a guide, the design team created the school to be built green from the ground up. The position of the new building on the site was carefully studied to take advantage of passive strategies for sustainability, frame views to the mountains, and fit in seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Douglass Elementary School, located in Boulder, Colorado, offers a variety of educational and cocurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through five.
