The project, which is being developed in Claremont, California, is the second of three phases of the Housing Master Plan. Phase I (the Pitzer, Sanborn, and Atherton wards) had 323 beds and 13,500 square feet of academic and central plant space. The Master Plan is altered by a shift in the number of beds from Phase III to Phase II, with Phase II providing 300 beds and roughly 16,000 square feet of Academic Space. The Phase II location (north of Phase I) connects Phase I to the Outback. To the west, the connection to the main areas of campus is primarily restricted to the area of the current Pitzer Service Fire Lane, the desert garden portion of the arboretum, and the community farm gardens east of the Grove House.
