The Project: Kempinski Hotel & Apartments

Project Description

This project located in Muscat, Oman has an area of 68,600 square meters approximately. Kempinski, part of the hotel chain of the same name, will be a component of a world-class mixed-use community spread along 6km of natural beach. This 5-star luxury Kempinski property incorporates 300 guest keys and 68 serviced apartments as well as state-of-the-art business and leisure facilities with the aim of leading the luxury hospitality market in Muscat, Oman. The development includes a destination gym and spa, two swimming pools, extensive food and beverage outlets along an urban streetscape, extensive landscaped gardens and an iconic ballroom that will cater for 1,000 guests. The architecture of the resort is contemporary with local and regional references defined by space, form, light, material, and detail. The diamond-shaped buildings feature a combination of Omani influences, from architectural cues to existing landmark. The facade is inspired by the landscape of Old Muscat such as the Muttrah Corniche. This construction project’s completion date was set in 2018.

Scope of work

Our studio was involved in the Detail Design and Construction Drawings phases providing support to our client to deliver: Interiors Set of Drawings and Architectural Set of Drawings. Two different software platforms were used: AutoCAD for Interiors and REVIT for Architectural Drawings, which presented additional complexity when integrating information. The role of our on-site project coordinators was vital to ensure consistency by connecting the client team in Dubai with the offshore group. Renderings for the project were also created in close coordination with our Architecture team, which resulted in a seamless work process.
